Hot rolled steel is produced by heating steel slabs above 900°C and passing them through heavy rollers. This high temperature allows the steel to be shaped with ease. At the end of the process, as the steel cools to room temperature, a characteristic bluish-gray oxide layer known as "scale" forms on the surface.

Pickled and Oiled Steel (HRP):
The Critical Step to Quality

The scale layer on raw hot rolled (HR) steel is unsuitable for subsequent processes like painting or coating. Under the assurance of Oz Metal Group, our products reach HRP quality through these critical industrial processes:

  • Pickling: The steel is passed through acid baths to remove surface scale and rust, resulting in a homogeneous, matte gray steel surface.
  • Oiling: The cleaned surface is coated with a specialized protective oil layer to prevent re-oxidation (rusting) during storage and transit.

Delivery Forms and Dimensions
  • Coil: Surface pickled, edges trimmed/untrimmed.
  • Sheet: Cut-to-length plates from coils.
  • Tempering: Optional Skin Pass process (max. 3mm thickness).
  • Thickness Range: 1.20 mm – 6.00 mm
  • Coil ID: Standard 610 mm (508 / 610 mm for tempered products).
Surface and Quality Standards
Surface Protection (Oiling)

To minimize corrosion risk for pickled products, we recommend delivery at "normal oiling" levels. Normal oiled products carry a 3-month rust-free guarantee from the date of dispatch.

Surface Quality Assurance

All our hot rolled products are guaranteed to meet EN 10163-2 (Class B, Subclass 3) standards for surface defects.
